We've made a number of changes to enhance our service offering this year. We've acted on customer feedback with respect to our charges and developed a high level feasibility "Tier 1" report. This is provided at a lower cost to our customers (for relevant assessment criteria).
Our Drainage Tier 1 report offers a lower priced service offering, providing developer customers with insight into drainage constraints as part of their early stage due diligence. When developing this years’ service offering, we also concentrated on enhancing the number of enquiry types we offer providing further relevant services to our developer customers.
If you’ve applied for Pre-planning, NAV or Point of Connection enquiry before you’ll notice some changes to our application process as we transition between customer service platforms. All users should follow the application guide below.
As stated in our 2025/2026 Charges guide NAV and Point of Connection enquires are now charged services. We have aligned charges to our pre-planning enquiry services as stated below.
Application guide
The table below shows which service offering is right for you depending on your development needs.
If your enquiry relates to surface water drainage, please read our guide before applying to ensure you can provide the required evidence to allow us to complete our assessment.
Apply through Inflow for the following services: You will be able to make payment through Inflow or via BACS.
* Tier 1 Capacity Assessment
A Tier 1 assessment is a basic feasibility study that evaluates whether a proposed point of connection to the network is viable. It provides a clear "yes" or "no" response to a connection request, typically in support of planning applications. Customers receive a full report within 21 days, which includes:
If customers have questions following the report, these can be submitted via their Inflow account, with responses provided within 5 working days.
Trade effluent can be included in a Tier 1 assessment for an additional fee.
All other assessments can be requested by following the relevant links:
* Tier 2 Capacity Assessment
A Tier 2 assessment is required when the requested connection point is not feasible, or where more complex issues need to be addressed. This includes situations requiring alternative connection locations, network reinforcement, or more in-depth analysis.
Tier 2 assessments involve technical discussion and collaboration to develop a suitable solution and are commonly used during pre-application design and strategy stages.
All surface water connection requests are automatically classified as Tier 2 assessments due to the additional complexity and considerations required.
Water Non Domestic Report –
As set out in our Non Household water briefing note , we are now limiting requests for Non Household, non-domestic water to a maximum supply of 20m3/day per site. This is because we currently have very limited water resource in all of our Water Resource Zones (WRZ’s).
We are unable to assess applications for requested supplies above 20m3/day.
Simply complete the required information and after receiving your red line boundary and relevant documentation, we’ll get straight back to you with next steps. These enquiries will be invoiced separately, we'll continue with your assessment whilst you arrange payment to ensure you receive your report as soon as possible.
