Below you’ll find a breakdown of the projects going on in your local area between now and 2030, and how much we’re investing in each county across our region.

Bedfordshire

£16 million at Dunstable and Flitwick water recycling centres. To protect and enhance animal and plant life in streams and rivers, upgrading equipment to reduce the risk of pollutions or spills. We’re also investing to reduce emissions produced at our water recycling centres, as part of our goal to be carbon net zero by 2030.
£80 million to increase capacity at our water recycling centres that serve Bedford, Marston Moretaine, Stanbridgeford and Clifton.
£76 million to upgrade 16 water recycling centres across the county to protect and enhance animal and plant life in local rivers. Helping us remove nutrients like phosphorous from the treated wastewater being returned to the environment.
£6 million to protect and enhance animal and plant life at four sites across the county, including Leighton Linslade Poppy Hill, by increasing storm tank capacity and preventing spills.
£1 million to upgrade screens at four water recycling centres, protect and enhance animal and plant life by helping us return higher quality wastewater to the environment.
£46 million to create new interconnecting pipes across the county, to move water around the region wherever and whenever we need it. Helping to help keep taps running and minimise the impacts of future droughts.

Buckinghamshire

£66 million to upgrade 17 water recycling centres across the county to protect and enhance animal and plant life in local rivers, by helping us remove more nutrients like phosphorous from the treated wastewater being returned to the environment.
£14 million to increase capacity at our water recycling centres across the county, including those that serve Buckingham, Milton Keynes, Oving and Hanslope.
£2 million to upgrade storm overflows and screens at Tingewick and Newton Longville water recycling centres, to protect and enhance animal and plant life, by helping us prevent spills and return higher quality wastewater to the environment.
£1 million to protect and enhance animal and plant life, by increasing storm tank capacity and preventing spills at Brackley water recycling centre.
£23 million at Cotton Valley water recycling centre. To protect and enhance animal and plant life in streams and rivers, upgrading equipment to reduce the risk of pollutions or spills. We’re also investing to reduce emissions produced at our water recycling centres, as part of our goal to be carbon net zero by 2030.

Cambridgeshire

£86 million to increase capacity at our water recycling centres including Cambridge, Waterbeach, Isleham, Flag Fen, St Neots, Melbourn, Manea, Soham and Doddington.
£14 million to upgrade storm overflows at 26 sites and screens at 16 sites across the county, to protect and enhance animal and plant life, by helping us to prevent spills and return higher quality wastewater to the environment.
£102 million to upgrade 34 water recycling centres across the county to protect and enhance animal and plant life in local rivers, by helping us remove nutrients like phosphorous from the treated wastewater being returned to the environment.
£10 million at Cambridge water recycling centre. To protect and enhance animal and plant life in streams and rivers, upgrading equipment to reduce the risk of pollutions or spills. We’re also investing to reduce emissions produced at our water recycling centres, as part of our goal to be carbon net zero by 2030.
£10 million to improve bathing water quality in the River Cam.
£3 million to help reduce odour at March water recycling centre.
£32 million to lay and connect a new pipeline for Waterbeach Town.
£142 million to create new interconnecting pipes across the county, to move water around the region wherever and whenever we need it. Helping to help keep taps running and minimise the impacts of future droughts.

Essex

£67 million to reduce storm overflows at 49 sites across Essex (including Southend and Colchester), which will help reduce the risk of pollutions, as well as create sustainable drainage solutions to drain rainwater and reduce flooding.
£95 million investment across Essex's Water Recycling Centres, including £64 million to protect and enhance animal and plant life in local rivers, by helping us remove nutrients like phosphorous from the treated wastewater being returned to the environment. Alongside this there is £31 million to expand capacity at 9 sites (including Copford, South Woodham Ferrers, Coggeshall, Newport and Fingringhoe), supporting our growing communities.
£68 million to improve bathing water quality in Maldon, Tollesbury, Walton, Frinton and Southend.
£23 million to protect and enhance animal and plant life in streams and rivers in areas such as Chelmsford, Basildon and Colchester, upgrading equipment to reduce the risk of pollutions or spills. We’re also investing to reduce emissions produced at our water recycling centres, as part of our goal to be carbon net zero by 2030.
£10 million at Halstead and Braintree Water Treatment Works to remove PFAS chemicals, safeguarding clean drinking water for the future.
£30 million to deliver new interconnecting pipelines across Essex, to move water around the region wherever and whenever we need it. Helping to help keep taps running and minimise the impacts of future droughts. This will be between Ardleigh to Great Horkesley and Colchester to Ardleigh.
A further £13.6 million to support advanced water recycling technology in Colchester.

Lincolnshire

£53 million to increase capacity at 18 water recycling centres, including those that serve Metheringham, Claypole, Frampton, Swinderby and Sleaford.
£25 million to improve bathing water quality in Tetney Newton Marsh, Boston and Sutton Bridge.
£8 million to protect and enhance animal and plant life, by increasing storm tank capacity and preventing spills at six water recycling centres in Canwick, Marston, Alford, Spilsby, Willingham and Bourne.
£36 million to upgrade 16 water recycling centres across the county to protect and enhance animal and plant life in local rivers, by helping us remove nutrients like phosphorous from the treated wastewater being returned to the environment.
£79 million to upgrade Covenham and Hall water treatment works to ensure a reliable and resilient water supply for the future.
£58 million to create new interconnecting pipes across the county, to move water around the region wherever and whenever we need it. Helping to help keep taps running and minimise the impacts of future droughts.

Norfolk

£106 million to reduce storm overflows at 34 Norfolk sites (including Great Yarmouth and Norwich), which will help reduce the risk of pollutions, as well as create sustainable drainage solutions to drain rainwater and reduce flooding.
£198 million total investment across Norfolk’s Water Recycling Centres, including £158 million to upgrade water treatment technology at 31 sites (e.g. Corpusty, Rackheath, Swanton, Morley and Aldborough) through water reuse and removing nutrients like phosphorus from the treated wastewater being returned to the environment. Plus, £40 million to increase capacity at water recycling centres (including Whitlingham, Langham, Aylsham, Bradenham, Harleston and East Harling) to support growing communities.
£62 million to improve bathing water quality in Mundesley, Hunstanton and King’s Lynn, supporting coastal communities and tourism.
£64 million across 9 Water Treatment Works to remove nitrates, to clean water to an even higher quality water it’s returned to nature.
£32 million across 9 Water Treatment Works to secure more water for the future, including recycling water from filter cleaning and developing a new water source on the River Nar at Marham.
£320 million to deliver new interconnecting pipelines across Norfolk (including the Broads, Aylsham, Bradenham, Harleston and East Harling), to move water around the region wherever and whenever we need it. Helping to help keep taps running and minimise the impacts of future droughts.
£5.8 million in river restoration across the Wissey catchment, improving water quality, protecting local ecosystems, reducing the risk of pollutions, and supporting natural flood and drought management
A further £70 million to support the development of sustainable drainage solutions (SuDs), which will help to drain rainwater and reduce the risk of flooding in Great Yarmouth.

Northamptonshire

£59 million to upgrade 16 water recycling centres across the county to protect and enhance animal and plant life in local rivers, by helping us remove nutrients like phosphorous from the treated wastewater being returned to the environment. We’re also building two new wetlands to naturally clean treated wastewater, provide new habitats for wildlife and increase biodiversity.
£4 million to protect and enhance animal and plant life, by increasing storm tank capacity and preventing spills at four water recycling centres in Great Doddington, Newnham, Weston by Welland and Whilton.
£6 million to upgrade four water recycling centres in Barnwell, Clipston, Stoke Albany and Raunds. To protect and enhance animal and plant life in local rivers, by helping us remove nutrients like ammonia from the treated wastewater being returned to the environment.
£56 million to upgrade storm storage, screens and create sustainable drainage systems to drain rainwater (SuDS) at 30 sites across the county. To protect and enhance animal and plant life, by helping us to prevent spills and flooding.
£15 million to upgrade sludge storage and digesters at Great Billington sludge treatment centre.

Suffolk

£25 million to reduce storm overflows at 23 Suffolk sites (including Southwold and Ipswich), which will help reduce the risk of pollutions, as well as create sustainable drainage solutions to drain rainwater and reduce flooding.
£84 million across 31 Water Recycling Centres to protect and enhance animal and plant life in local rivers, by helping us remove nutrients like phosphorous from the treated wastewater being returned to the environment.
£25 million to increase capacity at 6 Water Recycling Centres (including Tuddenham and Stowmarket), supporting our growing communities and protect the environment.
£16 million at Southfields and Beck Row Water Treatment Works to remove PFAS chemicals, safeguarding clean drinking water for the future.
£256 million to deliver new interconnecting pipelines across West Suffolk, to move water around the region wherever and whenever we need it. Helping to help keep taps running and minimise the impacts of future droughts.
£21million proposed investment in bathing water improvements, enhancing water quality, supporting coastal communities and tourism.

Working with farmers
Agriculture is a vital industry in East Anglia. That’s why Anglian Water works closely with our region’s farmers to maintain healthy water, and healthy crops.

Anglian Water’s team of expert agricultural advisors visit farms in our region and talk face to face with farmers and agronomists. As well as listening and responding to the many challenges farmers face, they offer practical advice. All while exploring new ideas for farming with the future of water at front of mind.
