If your property already has an existing water supply and you need to replace it, we can help you with this.

You may want to replace your water supply if:

• your existing connection is made out of lead*
• you need to upsize or relocate the water supply for your property
• the existing water supply in your property is old and affecting water quality or pressure
• the existing property is demolished for a new property or properties to be developed
• the existing property is on a common shared supply
• the existing property is divided into flats or multiple properties.

Replacing a lead supply

If your existing service is made from lead you may qualify for the Anglian Water side of the pipework to be replaced free of charge* or at a reduced cost. To qualify for this the below criteria must be met:

• The existing communication pipe must be lead;
• The customer must lay a new pipe from the property to the highway boundary;
• The new service pipe must be the same size as the existing water service pipe (where the existing pipe is 15mm we will replace in 25mm);
• The property must have an active billing account with Anglian Water or a retailer;
• The service must be replaced like-for-like in terms of number of properties it serves. If a common supply, the existing lead communication pipe can be replaced.

Please note as of the 1st of April 2025 if you wish to come off a common supply the Anglian Water side of the works will be chargeable as a new connection will be made for your property rather than any lead pipes being removed from the Anglian Water network.

*Payment is required before the replacement connection can be completed. Once the work is finished and if lead is confirmed to be present between the external stop tap and our water main (communication pipe), the payment will be fully refunded.
